Indefinite Hiatus

RSPHL.com

Well guys it’s with a heavy heart that I break this news… Many of you know, but for those who don’t RSPHL.com is me (Aaron) I’ve run the majority of the site with contributors who’ve graciously have helped out here and there, but the day to day was mainly me. Lately, I took on a project at work that has consumed my waking life and recently has made me make some tough decisions like the one I’m about to announce now.

RSPHL.com is going on indefinite hiatus for now… I wish that I had the time to dedicate to anyone who’d follow, however, right now it’s not in the cards.

I’ve been pretty consistent over the last few years doing what I could for the scene and really enjoyed it. I especially loved when something I would have written for the band would have brightened someone’s day or had given some new light to a band that would have otherwise would have flown under the radar. Basically put, I wish I had the time to do this project right, however, now putting up short video posts and show pages just doesn’t cut it for me and lately, I’ve struggled to even do that. So for now, the site goes on the back burner because if I choose to do this again it will certainly have the proper amount of time dedicated to it to make it the best it can be.

I’m leaving the page up for now, you can still visit the shows page (which automatically updates) for upcoming events and you can still listen to the players on the artist pages as well. Hopefully I’ll return to do this once again, but for now I want to take the opportunity to say thank you for following and supporting Radio Static.

Editor’s Note:
So by now you’ve probably seen a pretty limited posting situation that is basically just show posts right now. I’m pretty busy with my main job and as of right now RSPHL is running on “Super Stripped Down” mode. Once things normalize, we’ll be back up and running as normal. That said here are this week’s new releases. No reviews, because I’m that swamped right now, (and seriously who cares what I think, anyway) so feel free to leave your own review if you’re so inclined in the comments below or just stream and enjoy!

Sleep In "S/T"
RECOMMENDED RELEASE:
Sleep In
“S/T 7″”

Amazingly catchy and completely awesome duo of tracks that these guys have put together. Whether or not you’re into 2016 emo revival, Sleep In will make you a fan. Between the horn segments and the injection of mathy guitar tracks this band has written two of the most killer songs to put on their 7″. THIS IS MANDATORY LISTENING!  Press play now! Get the 7″ here before it’s OOP!

Recommended Track: “Every Hour of Every Week”

The Holy Mess “Trash Age”

Did a quick review of their video for “Flesh of the Fresh, Blood of the Dove” and if you loved this track the other two are just as killer. Punk as fuck and hugely energetic, these tracks straight slay! Injections of pop-esque elements make this effort that much more amazing! Don’t fuck around, get the 7″ here before they’re OOP!

Recommended Track: “Flesh of the Fresh, Blood of the Dove”

Jo Kusy “Wild Violets”

An amazing collection of dream pop bedroom tunes that have a sincere honesty encapsulated in every track. Floating and breathy, these track are sure to set your mood at ease and your mind in total relaxation mode. Great listen for those in full focus or just to listen to in your own bedroom.

Recommended Track: “Dream Boat”

Littler “Of Wandering”

Indie punk rock with garage aspects that totally rule. This effort shows off their killer ability to created amazing songs that have one hook right after another. Lax female fronted vocals give this band a soothing feel that rounds out their sound really well. Basically speaking, this effort is eleven tracks of pure and unfiltered honestly written music that represents our town in a great way!

Recommended Track: “Bend or Fold”
Follow Here: Facebook

Shane Luck “Vacui”

Indie rock that is slightly folk-inspired and a step up from bedroom pop recordings I’ve heard recently. Chill and haunting in some aspects these 5 tracks follow this soothing vibe that has been going around town and catching on recently. Each song has this intensity underlying just beneath the surface like the song could get really heavy at anytime but it’s only release is just the ending of the track. All in all, an awesome EP that you should definitely press play to hear now.

Recommended Track: “Mud”

Uncle/Father Oscar “You’re Saying It Like It’s Gonna Happen”

Emo Revival that’ll have you reliving 2003 all over again. Powerful vocals, Mountainous guitar riffs, sentimental parts, gang parts and more, this release absolutely kills it at massive proportions! The whole album is just one catchy part right after the next and had my head nodding from the first to last note. Awesome effort by one of the most active bands in town currently. Great to see such tenacity pay off this much!

Recommended Track: “Sledge This Ledge”
Follow Here: Facebook

Wally “Last Night At Nick’s”

Thrashy punk metal provided by Wally gets the live album treatment. Combining killer elements from said genres, this band’s live album provides a glimpse into their blistering show sound. Their snarky vocals mixed with amazing guitar riffs, bass lines that are all over the place, drumming that keeps it all tight and guitar solos that slay so hard makes this release as awesome as it absolutely could be!

Recommended Track: “Stone Dead Forever (LIVE)”

Wild Jim Bandill & His Rolling Rocks “If This Ol’ Dick Stretched To Nashville”

Jangly, soulful duo of country tunes that has a humorous twist, this release is as talented as it is hilarious. In their title track the lyric right before the guitar solo is “Whip it out, Cam” had me on the the floor. Just listen to this, now. Theres nothing I’m going to write here to do this any justice. Probably the best thing I’ve heard in a long while.
